Here's my teapot in action for our "high tea" on the weekend. |
But my brews were not staying warm enough, so I needed a tea cosy. I was going to buy one, but the only ones I could find were blah, so I started hunting for a pattern. It had to be crochet (cos I'm not a knitter), reasonably easy, use yarn I already had and preferably be pretty too. I found a pattern for a Granny stripe cosy, and started with some blue yarn I had lying around and made this......
Pretty cute huh? And perfectly practical..... but I had an idea brewing (hehe - yep, I meant that pun) and the cold windy day today proved to be the perfect time to let my idea bloom (yep, that's another pun....) And I created this -
Ta-da!! Tea in Granny's Garden! I love love love it! It looks so sweet in my kitchen - like spring arrived early. And with a bit of luck, it'll keep my tea warm too :)
That is gorgeous - the teapot and the cosy. I have many teapots, they all have names too. I agree, nothing beats a hot pot of tea this time of year.
ReplyDeleteOh, your tea cosy is so sweet, Tracey! I think I would be boiling the kettle every 20 minutes or so if I had a tea cosy like this ;).
ReplyDeleteMy friend recently got me back on to using tea leaves..so much nicer to drink than teabags. True relaxation time. :)
Definately nicer. It feels like more of a special ritual than just chucking a teabag in a cup doesn't it. Though a teabag in a cup is still a much better option than no tea at all! :)
DeleteI'm a cosy fan...yours is so pretty. You'll be able to drink tea for hours on end now! :)
ReplyDeleteI love it...I always use a cosy, it keeps my pot lovely and warm....hot tea in case you want another cup, perfect...
ReplyDeleteYour blog post mentioning tea cosies last week was my inspiration :)
DeleteI'm a tea addict, esp at this time of year when it is absolutely freezing in the Ranges. I have a little tea-pot; does enough for 2 cups of tea at a time, which suits me pretty well as it doesn't get time to go cold before I drink it all. Although, I should get a larger pot for when visitors call...

What a difference some flowers make - as in everything the addition of few flowers just give s you a llift!!! I am currently in a teapot cosy phase (along with a lot of other phases!!)and have been trying lots of different patterns - both knitted and crocheted. Such a pity I am the only one who drinks tea in this house!! As a first time visitor I am really enjoying your posts!!
