Over the weekend, the nights and mornings were cold, but the days were fine and not so bad. We managed to get a lot of work done in the garden and had a small fire to burn off some prunings. We cooked potatoes in the fire for our tea while the boys played with the dogs, Stu did some more pruning and I moved some long lost jonquil bulbs to a better position. Then the sun went down and we had our hot potatoes with butter, cheese and some cooked mushrooms on the loungeroom floor (Jamie wanted to eat outside, but we voted for a floor picnic instead!).
It is no longer nice in the day time, it is wet and cold, so I've been doing a few things to keep warm:
- Baking a curry in the oven - with extra spice to warm from the inside
- Pulling up my blanket on the couch and crocheting my socks (nearly done!)
- Making porridge for breakfast
- Dance practice (in beanie, socks and gloves - oh the glamour!)
- Drinking lots of tea and chai (and dreaming of making a tea cosy)
- Snuggling in bed with a book
- And sewing fleecy hot water bottle covers for the boys
Now it is nearly time to put the oven back on to cook something for tea (adding a bit of warmth and a cosy baking smell to the house) and I might make some warm mash for my chooks who've been clucking quietly outside while I dance and type.
Keep warm!
Well this is my favourite time of year but I'm a bit antisocial and it seems to go that the worse the weather is, the less people come visit the winery so....lol Not very sound business practice but oh well:)
ReplyDeleteBTW tried chai made with goats milk today - brilliant! I've never had goats milk before and I was really prepared for it to be horrible but it is the perfect kind of slightly heavier, slightly salty flavour that makes a great chai...have you tried?
When I read about your dancing outfit I had the FAME theme play in my head :P
How productive winter makes us....I mean when we aren't curled up in bed :D Lovely post that warmed me up.
Great hot water bottle covers Tracey!
